Colony One at Sea Mountain resort is one of the most serene resorts on the Big Island. Perfect for those who want to get the true Hawaiian experience. Colony One at Sea Mountain Condos are located on the South end of the Big Island only 60 minutes from Hilo and 80 minutes from Kona and 25 minutes from Volcano National Park. The two closest towns are Na’alehu (7 miles South) and Pahala (5 miles North).
Walk to the world famous Punalu’u Black Sand Beach, and swim with the green sea turtles which bask on the beach all day long. All short drives from the resort: Green Sands Beach, South Point Cliffs, Kilauea Volcano, Ka’u Coffee Mills, and so much more. Greens Sands Beach is the only natural beach in the world that encompasses beautiful green sand made out of olivine crystals. South Point cliffs are the most southern point in the United States and are world renowned for its amazing views and cliff jumping excitement. In the other direction, Kilauea constantly spews out lava in the Volcano National Park for all to see year round. The Ka’u Coffee Mill is famous world round for it’s superior unique coffee taste- see the farm itself and take a tour of the beautiful uplands of the Ka’u district. Punalu’u Bake Shop located in Na’alehu features freshly made Sweet Bread which now ships globally, and can be sampled and enjoyed in your lunch sandwich while lounging in the gorgeously maintained grounds and gardens. Ka’u has some of the most isolated and untouched landscapes in all of Hawaii. The swimming water, fresh and salt, is warm and crystal clear, perfect for rejuvenating the body and soul. The island itself is the only place in the world that contains all 7 geographic climates. Toni - May 2021 - "Our stay here was awesome! The space was all we expected and more. I know the drive from the airport sounds like a lot but it worked perfect because when we spent time in Hilo the drive wasn’t as bad as driving from Kona and we were very close to the Black Sands Beach and Green Sands Beach. We went in early May and the fans worked well but with the warmer summers I think it might be a little tough. I wish we had gone when the jacuzzi was open but hoping to be back again soon! The pool was great and easy to sign up for; as well as the WiFi. Amenities included black coffee and a working fridge and pots and pans so definitely stop at a market for the basics. I definitely recommend this spot!"

It's a quiet community surrounded by Volcano National Park and is within about an hours drive of some of the nicest black sand beaches. If you're looking for a nice place to relax and explore, this is the place for you!"

Jonathan - Dec 2017 - “The condo complex is immaculate, well maintained and, most importantly, very kid friendly. Our 3 y.o. met new friends and played in the pool twice a day. The public spaces are well thought out. We used the grill as did others. Unit 5 is across from the grill and pool which makes it slightly less private than other units in the complex. I guess that would be a problem if there were wild shenanigans going on at all hours but that was not the case. The quiet hour rules are followed respectfully. We liked the location and took advantage of walks to the beach and rocky shore. We would have loved to stay longer. Ah well, next year.”

Andy - Mar 2019 - “This is a cozy space - ideally for two - on the south shore of the Big Island. It's "loft-sized" - a bedroom connected to a living space connected to a kitchenette. It's clean and well-maintained. The patio door opens onto a great little patio area, which is just steps away from the pool, BBQ area, and hot tubs. The facility is grown-up - there are a few kids, but the vibe is mature and respectful - we met some really nice people here. The south shore of Hawaii is quiet - this is a place to unwind, and you'll have to travel to do things. About food: there are groceries 10-15 minutes away by car, as well as some excellent restaurants in Na'ahelu. No need to panic and buy food in Hilo or Kona when you land.”
